Card payments cost what Stripe charges your Stripe account, with nothing added by us. Print orders cost what the printer charges.
Compared with Shopify
A Shopify store that sells ebooks, audiobooks and print usually needs five or six paid tools. Here is what they add up to, next to Lanternbee.
Every monthabout $111
Every month$45
US prices on monthly billing, checked on November 3, 2026. Lanternbee Author is $35 a month paid yearly, and some of the tools above are cheaper yearly too. Lanternbee is also priced in euros and pounds. Stripe’s card fees and print costs apply either way. Your own setup may use more apps or fewer.

Start on Free. The 5% fee only applies when you sell, so a quiet month costs nothing. Once your store sells more than about $900 (€780, £700) a month, Author costs you less. You can switch any time.
Stripe’s card fees, which Stripe charges to your own Stripe account. Lanternbee adds nothing to them. Print orders cost what BookVault or Lulu charges. There are no setup fees and no charges per download.
Stripe Tax adds the right VAT or sales tax to each reader’s order at checkout. You are the seller, so you file and pay it. Lanternbee taking EU VAT on ebooks off your hands is planned, not live yet.
Yes, whenever you like. Download your readers and orders first. Your books stay yours wherever you sell them next.
We used the prices each company shows today on monthly billing, for a mid-sized author list. Some authors pay less with free plans or yearly billing. Others pay more with a sales-tax app, a paid theme or a bigger email list. The sources are listed below so you can check them.
Tax by country: VAT and sales tax on books.
