Domains

Connect your own domain

Point a sub-address such as shop.yourname.com at your store with one DNS record, then make it your primary address.

You can show your store on your own domain, like shop.yourname.com or www.yourname.com. You need a domain you already own, and access to the place you bought it (your registrar or DNS provider).

Sub-addresses only

Use a sub-address such as shop.yourname.com. A bare domain like yourname.com can’t point at a store directly. If you want yourname.com to open your store, ask your registrar to forward it to the sub-address.

Steps

  1. Go to Store settings, Domain.
  2. Under Connect your own domain, type the address, like shop.yourname.com, and choose Add domain.
  3. Lanternbee shows one record to add: a CNAME with a Name and a Value. Each has a Copy button. The name is only the first part, like shop, because most providers add the rest of your domain by themselves.
  4. At your domain provider, add that record.
  5. Back in Lanternbee, choose Check now.

Changes usually show up within minutes, but can take a few hours.

What the labels mean

  • Waiting for DNS: we haven’t checked yet, or the record is still on its way.
  • Not found yet: we checked and couldn’t find the record. Check the name and value, wait a little, then choose Check now again.
  • Connected: the domain works.
  • Primary: the address readers see.

Make it primary

When a domain says Connected, choose Make primary. Your lanternbee.shop address keeps working and points to the same store.

Remove a domain

Choose Remove and confirm. The domain stops showing your store. You can connect it again later.

Common problems

  • Lanternbee says the domain is already in use. Another store has connected it.
  • Lanternbee says the address is reserved. Lanternbee’s own addresses, like ones ending in lanternbee.shop, can’t be added as your own domain.
  • Still not found after a few hours. Check the name at your provider. If it asks for the full name, use the whole address, like shop.yourname.com. If it adds your domain by itself, use only shop, or you end up with shop.yourname.com.yourname.com.
